This policy relates to candidates who are in the process of completing but have not passed the CACO as of the October 2016 CACO administration and who under the Eligibility policy are eligible for one or more retakes of the CACO. The Examination Policy for Transitional Candidates supplements the CACO Eligibility policy. The Eligibility policy continues to apply to all candidates attempting the CACO and the new examination.
- Examination retakes
A candidate requiring a retake after fall 2016 will attempt the CACO (failed components). All retakes after spring 2017 will be the new examination, i.e. the written and the OSCE.
- Number of attempts
Candidates will be permitted to 3+1 attempts of the new examination with 3 years to complete. The requirement that candidates complete the first attempt of the CACO or new examination within three years of program completion remains
- Final administration of the CACO
The CACO will be offered one final time in spring 2017 only to eligible retake candidates. There will be no further administrations of the CACO after spring 2017. All exams after spring 2017 will be in the new exam format.
